WORLDAUCTION

Inviting you to follow AUCTION NEWS for immersing into WORLD HISTORY

The 60s lived two social phenomena that have changed our vision and our use of the world. The car is definitely out of its craft phase, being now only designed for series. Television is becoming accessible to all and takes a prominent place in our time.

The work of George Barris is inserted at the intersection of these two trends. To feed the TV movies and shows, it was necessary to create original cars, capable of capturing the attention of disregarding watchers.

Barris cars therefore have a special look, of course. And they are almost new, necessarily, because after their short artistic career they could only be used for presentation.

On October 3 in St.Charles, Illinois, in the auction held by Mecum, George Barris himself will present the AMX 400 Coupe created in 1969 by George Barris Kustom. Used for a TV show, only 3300 original miles.

What's the value of such a vehicle? I have not found an estimate, but my previous article in this group on Andy Saunders shows that prices for custom cars are not very high.

For your entertainment, I invite you to discover the drawings of fiction vehicles on the main page of Barris site.

Mecum sold 100 K$ excl this AMC car designed by George Barris.

I was not expecting a higher price for a custom car. Therefore I consider that it is a very good result.
