On 20 November, Christie's in Geneva presents a necklace with emeralds whose traceability goes back to the British aristocracy in the eighteenth century (1.8 MCHF, lot 269) (UNSOLD) and a Kashmir sapphire weighing 42 carats (3.4 MCHF, lot 279). (SOLD 4.2 MCHF including fees)

For Hong Kong on December 2, Christie's has found a beautiful jadeite hoop (MHK $ 6.8) (SOLD 6.7 MHK$ including fees) and a red diamond of 1.7 carats. (UNSOLD)

Here are some other important lots at Sotheby's in Geneva on November 19: the white diamond Lesotho I (71 carats, 3 MUS $), (UNSOLD), an exceptional red diamond (1.92 carat, 2.5 MUS$), (UNSOLD) a diamond necklace by Pierre Sterlé (1 MUS $) (UNSOLD) and two pearl necklaces (1.34 MUS $ and 900 KUS $). (SOLD 1.6 and 1.15 MCHF including fees).

At Sotheby's in Geneva on November 19, the deep blue diamond pear shaped (briolette) of 10.48 carats is superb, for 6 MUS $. It is one of the highlights that Sotheby's has just exhibited in Doha, Abu Dhabi and Dubai. (UNSOLD)

Christie's sells two diamonds carved out of one gem, on October 15 in New York. They weigh 102 carats (SOLD 4.1 M$ including fees) and 70 carats (SOLD 2.1 M$ including fees).

Sotheby's prepares an important sale in Hong Kong on October 7: A necklace centred with a fancy vivid yellow diamond of 102 carats (58 MHK$), (UNSOLD), a butterfly brooch signed Carvin French (30 MHK $), (UNSOLD), a cushion shaped diamond of 34 carats (47 MHK $), (SOLD 45 MHK$ including fees), a pair of earrings with rubies and diamonds by Givenchy for Taffin (30 MHK $). (UNSOLD or withdrawn).

An ancient pearl necklace by Cartier expects 500 K$ at Bonhams in New York on December 16. (SOLD 500 K$ before fees)

A necklace of diamonds for sale by Tajan on July 29 in Monte Carlo includes a yellow diamond of 10 carats cut in heart shape (330 K €, lot 164). (UNSOLD). It may be compared with another yellow diamond weighing 13.5 carats carved out in cushion shape and mounted on a ring (Lot 580). (UNSOLD).

On June 19 in Brussels, Pierre Bergé and Associés sells jewels made by artists, of which a silver collar by Louise Bourgeois at 28 K€. (UNSOLD).

On May 15 in Geneva at Sotheby's, here are an ornament of corsage by Wiese (155 KFS) (UNSOLD?) and a Cartier sapphire of 206 carats crimped of diamonds that passed by the collection of the duchess of Windsor (1,1 MFS). (UNSOLD?). Rings are crimped with colour gems: an oval purplish pink diamond of 5 carats (2,35 MFS, or 470 KFS per carat), (SOLD 2.7 MFS including fees), a vivid blue pear-shaped diamond of 3,7 carats (2,8 MFS, or 750 KFS per carat) (SOLD 5.2 MFS including fees) and a Burmese ruby of 14,6 carats surrounded of diamonds (2 MFS). (UNSOLD?).

On May 28, with the diamond of 101 carats already announced, (SOLD 48.5 MHK$ including fees), Christie's Hong Kong presents a green diamond of 10,6 carats (2 M US$, or approximately 200 K$ per carat) and some jadeite jewels: a pair of ear studs (2,3 M US$) and a necklace (2,15 M US$). The three last figures are estimates, results not found.

On May 14 in Geneva at Christie's, a ring decorated with a Burmese ruby of 13,7 carats in an important diamond entourage (lot 372) is awaited for 1,6 MUS$ but the estimate is tight. (SOLD 2 MFS fees included). Let us return to diamond with an intense blue of 13,4 carats, also on a ring (6 MUS$, or 440 KUS$ per carat, lot 393). (SOLD 9.2 MFS fees included).

The FS and the $ currently have the same value with a margin of 10 %, and Sotheby' s makes the amalgam in its estimates.

In New York on April 17, Sotheby's sells jewelry: an intense yellow diamond of 39 carats (lot 407) is estimated only $ 800 K, (SOLD 1.8 M$ including fees) and a diamond necklace holding two large drop shaped pearls (Lot 406) $ 800 K also . (SOLD 1.3 M$ including fees). The auctioneer said that the two jewels can be worn together.

A diamond of 38 carat pear-shaped is estimated £ 1.8 million in the sale of the jewels of Christina Onassis at Christie's in London on June 11. (SOLD 3.6 M£ including fees). In the same origin, a curiosity: a jade Buddha by Fabergé at 250 K£. (SOLD 1.27 M£ including fees). From another owner, Christie's announced an exceptional nineteenth century diamond necklace. (SOLD 480 K£ including fees).

On April 29, in Dubai, Christie's sell a magnificent necklace of natural pearls embellished with diamonds, the largest pearl weighing 220 grains (Lot 178, $ 1.8 million). (SOLD 1.7 M$ including fees). Significant lots of pearls : (SOLD two pearls 770 and 713 K$ including fees).

In the sale of April 15 at Christie's New York: a brooch made by François Kramer for the Empress Eugenie ($ 4 million), a rectangular intense pink diamond just over 14 carats ($ 10 million) and jewellery of Art Nouveau and Art Deco styles. (SALE cancelled on judge's request ; on April 23 it was annonced that the brooch was sold afterwards in private sale).

On April 29, in Dubai, Christie's sells a necklace of nine rows of beads that belonged to the Egyptian singer Um Kulthum (Oum Kalsoum), which was at the time, dubbed "the Shining Star of the Middle East" ($ 80K). (SOLD 1.4 M$ including fees).

Sotheby's offer on April 10 in Hong Kong a pear-shaped diamond Finest White Flawless weighing 72 carats (75 MHK$). (UNSOLD). The competition is open with Christie's shield diamond already mentioned in this column (Hong Kong, May 28).
At Sotheby's same sale: a necklace of pear diamonds totaling 91 carats (26 HK $ million), (SOLD 42 MHK$ including fees), a bracelet with 84 carats of diamonds signed Harry Winston (7 HK $ million).
For those who are a little lost with this currency, Sotheby's said that the fabulous blue diamond sold last year had obtained HK $ 61.9 million, or nearly $ 8 million. This reminder skillfully introduces a superb set of colored diamonds colors that will appear in the same sale. Afterward: an important set of jadeite jewelry.

Christie's chose the third world auction place, Hong Kong, to sell on May 28 a colourless (F) diamond of 101 carats, shield-shaped (HK$ 47 million). (SOLD 48.5 MHK$ including fees). In the same city Sotheby's had sold on October 8 last year a perfect blue diamond. Shall the Far Eastern gem market now compete with Middle East? According to a tradition that is developing for exceptional gems, the buyer must give a name to this diamond, which was unveiled in the Spring Masterpieces Exhibition of Christie's.
