A piece of 1 U.S. cent of 1795 is worth more than $ 75 K at Bowers and Merena as lot 1143 of the auction sale in Baltimore on November 20. It is worn, as ever. (SOLD 400 K$ including fees)

An octagonal U.S. gold coin of $ 50 is announced by Bowers and Merena for the sale of 13 September in Beverly Hills, lot 681. (SOLD 460 K$ including fees). At number 497 there is a silver dollar issued in 1893. (UNSOLD)

A very rare banknote is worth $ 250 K Canadians $ in specialized catalogs. It is included in the sale of 17 to 19 September organized by Heritage in Long Beach. (SOLD 320 K$ including fees). Another wonder of the same sale: the first ever U.S. $ 2 banknote (125 K $). (UNSOLD).

An interesting collection of bronze Gothic seals is going to Drouot on September 24 at Libert. The low estimates peak at 2 K €. (top SOLD 3.1 K€ before fees).

Errors are common in the sale of stamps, more rare for coins. Heritage found a one cent coin cut (it seems) in a 1 / 2 cent plate. This monster is included in the sale to be held from July 30 to August 2 in Baltimore. (SOLD 3,2 K$ including fees). (SOLD a US coin of 1825, 690 K$ including fees).

From June 4 to 7, Bowers and Merena is as usual the auction house associated with the Baltimore Coin and Currency Convention. It presents 3000 lots, of which a gold coin of 1$ of 1854 (lot 3544, current bid 99 K$), (UNSOLD), a note of 10$ of 1901 with bison (75 K$, lot 2537), (SOLD 80.5 K$ including fees), a note of 5$ of 1923 with the effigy of Lincoln (30 K$, lot 2630). (UNSOLD).

There was a sale of coins of 1 cent from 1793 to 1806 at Heritage on 14, 15 and 16 February. I counted 23 of 1 cent coins over $ 100 K with a double peak price at $ 632.5 K (including expenses). In the press release, the seller expresses his satisfaction! I appreciate this.

On April 16-19, in Rosemont (Illinois), Heritage sells one 1 silver dollar of 1804, a model of which 15 copies are known including 8 in Class I. (SOLD 3.7 M$ including fees)

The company La Galerie Numismatique of Lausanne, Switzerland, is organizing one auction a year. The next will take place on January 13 at Waldorf Astoria in New York. Without press release or synthetic, I watched the 1028 numbers of their beautiful catalog of Coins, medals and orders.
In terms of numismatic items price is governed by rarity, size and condition.
We shall then follow with interest what will happen with three lots that we particularly noticed:
At number 90, a small aureus (3.68 g) of the emperor Aemilian. Considered by the catalog as the only known of its kind, it is expected to reach $ 50000. (UNSOLD). In the same sale, the larger aureus listed are regularly expected between $ 5000 and $ 6000.
At number 382, an 8 escudos of Ferdinand VII of Spain in superb condition (1818, 27 g), none other sample being known to the author of the catalog. Estimated 90000 $. (UNSOLD).
Here the comparison will be with another number of the same catalog, the 384: later coin (1871) and almost superb, and with a big stupidity concerning reign date in the catalog, this piece of 100 pesetas of Amadeo I is estimated $ 60000, while 25 copies are known. (SOLD 140 K$ before fees). The low price difference compared to the unique 382 could perhaps be explained by the fact that the brief troubled reign of Amadeo surely hits more the Spanish people than Ferdinand's.

Bowers and Merena regularly auction coins in Florida and California, but mostly get excellent results at the quarterly Coin and Currency Convention in Baltimore. Next Balto sale is from February 27 to March 2. (SOLD 705 K$ including fees a 1870 silver 1 dollar which was once in King Farouk collection). The coin market is doing quite well in the United States: in its stronghold state of Texas, Heritage recorded very good results in a sale organized on the occasion of the Inaugural Houston Money Show of the Southwest.
