On June 7 at Antiquorum in Hong Kong, Lot 417 is a Patek Philippe of 1868 later monogramed for Rothschild. (SOLD 650 KHK$ before fees).
It is again Patek Philippe which leads the great sales of watches, this time at Christie's in Geneva on May 12: a reference 2497 of 1954 made in platinum known to only two specimens (1,5 MFS) (SOLD 3.2 MFS including fees) and a reference 1526 of 1949, only specimen known in stainless steel (1,5 MFS). (SOLD 4.1 MFS including fees).
The cover of the Gazette de l'Hôtel Drouot of April 4 shows a pocket watch of 1831 by Bréguet, with a pedigree in the English aristocracy. Because it includes nine complications, its estimate at 100 K € seems low. It will be sold by Bailly-Pommery et Voutier at Drouot on April 9. (SOLD 2.8 M€ before fees). Another astronomical Bréguet watch, oldest and gold, sold 454 KFS at Antiquorum in April 2004.
The sale of April 10 by Sotheby's Hong Kong, is featuring several important Patek Philippe, (SOLD maximum 11.7 MHK$ including fees) and two Lange (SOLD 5.9 and 1.7 MHK$ including fees).
Stay at Sotheby's on April 10 in Hong Kong: a Patek Philippe Ref.5002P Sky Moon Tourbillon, a model produced only 2 copies per year, is estimated HK $ 8 million. It includes 12 complications and 686 components. (SOLD 11.7 MHK$ including fees). The nice presentation of the other highlights of this sale shall invite me to analyse in detail the results. This is a category where I do not know much.
A complicated Wurtemberg clock shall spend time at Koller in Zurich on March 17. Overheaded by two globes, one terrestrial and the other celestial, it is signed by Phillip Mathäus Hahn and dated around 1785. Its low estimate (180 KFS) may be due to its small size (50x28x70 cm). (SOLD 430 KFS before fees). It is accompanied by a clock with the phases of the moon by Coteau (100 KFS) (SOLD 120 KFS before fees) and a superb turning circle clock of Louis XVI style (120 KFS). (SOLD 140 KFS before fees).
We have announced the sale of Rolex sports watches by Antiquorum New York on April 17. This specialty is the subject of an excellent article on the Antiquorum website.
(RESULTS: this sale is now the reference for valueing Rolex diving watches, which obtained the highest prices among the many other pieces of the same brand.
As you see below, the highlight was given to the depth : the leak is considered as a technical feat. Results are shown before fees.
The lot 210, announced as extremely rare, guaranteed down to 610 meters, was sold 200 K$.
The other two watches of same depth guarantee were sold at almost the same price, starting from lower estimates: the number 201 to 210 K$ and the number 209 at 200 K$.)
Sales from 8 to 11 April by Sotheby's in Hong Kong included a sophisticated Patek Philippe 5002P Sky Moon Tourbillon watch of a 2001 model (8 MHK$). (SOLD 11.7 MHK$ including fees).
