The Queen Elizabeth of my story was the daughter of king Ferdinand of Romania. In 1921 she married the future George II who became king of Greece the following year.
From this period dates a valuable travel case for mah jong, which belonged to the queen. Each of the four lower drawers contains 36 tiles of jade 1.5 cm wide, and the top drawer provides the other elements necessary for this game
The popularity of mah jong was growing rapidly in the 1920s. Agatha Christie will make it known in the West by evoking it in her novels.
Bonhams announced last year that they develop their sales in the games specialty, especially chess sets. Their next sale on this theme is in London on April 29, and includes the mah jong of Queen Elizabeth, estimated 6 K £.
