Drouot Presse announces a Vili power figure from Congo, estimated at 200 K € by Binoche Renaud Giquello in Paris on December 17, lot 49. (UNSOLD)

In the sale of a collection by Christie's in Paris on December 4, the two major lots are art of the Congo: a Songye power figure (300 K €, lot 319) (UNSOLD) and a Luba statuette (300 K €, lot 328) .(SOLD 550 K€ including fees)

Sotheby's gather in Paris on December 4 three Songye power figures : Lot 146 (200 K €) (SOLD 240 K€ including fees) ; Lot 151 (200 K €) (UNSOLD) ; Lot 154 (180 K €) (UNSOLD). A Fang head of Gabon had belonged to Louis Carré (400 K €, lot 132). (SOLD 770 K€ including fees)

The painting by Rover Thomas estimated 500 KA$ in the sale of Sotheby's in Sydney on October 20 represents the route of a river (90 x 180 cm, lot 160). (UNSOLD).

Three auction houses share the sale room of Drouot Montaigne on September 12 to sell art Pre Colombian art. Companies Binoche and Renaud - Giquello present in collaboration two masks of Teotihuacan (160 K €, lot 82; 120 K €, lot 81). (UNSOLD or CANCELLED). By Pierre Bergé company, the Maya culture is represented by a royal portrait of 78 cm in limestone and stucco (600 K €, lot 6) and a tripod vase (150 K €, Lot 5). (probably CANCELLED).

In a sale devoted exclusively to the Rosenthal collection, Sotheby's will sell in New York on November 14 an exceptional pair of Senufo statues ($ 3 million), (SOLD 4 M$ including fees), a carved Sepik board ($ 500 K), (SOLD 1.3 M$ including fees), a male Moai from Easter Island (250 K $), (SOLD 610 K$ including fees) and other wonders.

In the sale of Sotheby's in Paris on June 11, we noted an Afro-Portuguese salt cellar (400 K €, lot 120), (SOLD 1.3 M€ including fees), a king's head in bronze from Benin (300 K €, lot 130) (SOLD 530 K€ including fees) and a uli statuette of New Ireland (250 K €, lot 45). (SOLD 700 K€ including fees).

By way of test concerning African art that one did not see much lately, let us track at Pierre Bergé and Associés on June 5 in Brussels a Tshokwe sceptre, 59 cm high. This ethnos group of Angola often generates important prices. This one is estimated only at 60 K€. (SOLD 60 K€ before fees).

In the sale of Sotheby's New York on May 23 : a Navajo blanket with striated figure (400 K$). (UNSOLD).

On July 7, Artcurial in Paris devotes a sale to Aborigenal art. A painting of 1992 of Clifford Possum Tjapaltjarri is shown with a very open estimate: 240 to 400 K€. (UNSOLD).

The highlight of the sale of Sotheby's New York on May 16 is a Baga serpent (Guinea) collected in 1957 and which is known to have influenced the contemporary art at the time of one exhibition at the Matisse gallery of New York in 1961 (1,5 M$). (SOLD 3.3 M$ fees included).

So mediated it is by the website of the auction house, it is difficult to believe that the beautiful bronze king of Benin that Lempertz sell in Brussels on April 26 will remain at its estimate of 40 K€. (SOLD 560 K€ before fees).

In a full-page advertisement in the last Gazette de l'Hotel Drouot, we see a Lega ivory that belonged to Ratton. It will be sold by Aguttes at Drouot on April 25. (SOLD 20.5 K€ including fees).

The catalogue for the next sale of contemporary Inuit art from the auction house Waddington's 14 and April 15 is now online. Waddington's is based in Toronto. (SOLD 60 K Canadian $ a stone and ivory sculpture 20 cm high showing mother and child).

In the sale of Tajan in Paris on February 19: an Eskimo mask having once belonged to the Rasmussen collection (220 K€). The Lebel collection, sold by Calmels Cohen on December 4, 2006, let us discover in depth these extraordinary objects. We hope that this one reaches the expected price. (UNSOLD)

On February 15, at Drouot, Binoche and Renaud-Giquello sell Precolombian art, including a Teotihuacan mask at 120 K €. (?)
